Founded in 2005, Simply Direct Mortgage LLC is one of Georgia’s leading mortgage brokers.  We have loan originators who have received extensive classroom experience and been trained to understand the challenges of this complex market.

Simply Direct Mortgage founding members Chris Pilot and Guy Smith have worked together in combining their strong skills and investing long and hard hours in the construction and operation of an expanding business.

With more than 1300 closed loans and a growing informational system, clients rely on Simply Direct Mortgage as a resource. By continuing to learn cutting-edge and regulatory education, by giving back to our profession and our communities, and by believing optimistically that we can change the way the world sees the mortgage business, we are gaining clients daily.

A History of Mortgage Brokers
Though there were mortgage brokerages as far back as the 1890s.  It wasn’t until the 1930s  when the Great Depression and the New Deal made a great impact on how people financed real estate and redefined our nation’s housing policies. Over the next few years the government would produce many things that would change this industry, including:

The federal Home Loan Bank System (FHLB;1932)
Federal Housing Administration (1934)
U.S. Housing Act (1937)
The Veterans Administration (VA;1944)

Since things were changing, the mortgage industry and it’s financial markets didn’t become defined until the 1980s.  In the early 1980s the markets were in dyer trouble with thirty-year fixed-rate mortgages at more than 15%.  However over the next ten years there would be a steady decline with the rates.  It was the increasing growth of this industry that mortgage brokers were able to create their place and become recognized by the mortgage-lending community at the end of the 1980s.
